The Médaille d'Or
for Web Site Excellence

Web Sites qualify for the Médaille d'Or on the basis of a range of criteria, some of which are more objective than others. In considering a site, much will depend on our instinctive reactions to it. Does it instantly impress; and does it seem to convey an enthusiasm for its subject? But we also ask ourselves whether the site is both usable and useful. Are download times reasonable? Is the site kept reasonably up to date? Is navigation straightforward and intuitive? Does the content make the site worth exploring? Is it fun?
This is probably the most immediately impressive site we have seen on the Web. It is essentially an educational site about HIV coupled with a meta-index to other Web resources on all aspects of the subject, and the excellence of the design is more than matched by the wealth of information you can find on or from the site.
