Week of July 27th, 1998:HIVpositive.us"Your comprehensive resource to improved quality of life." Comprehensive is right--they should also add "well organized." You can find all the medical information you'd expect, and more: how the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) works and how it causes AIDS, current treatments and treatment research, HIV and nutrition, opportunistic infections, pain management, pediatric AIDS, and a glossary of terms. But the information goes beyond the medical to include non-pharmacological methods of pain management, the psychological effects of chronic pain, financial issues, and advice for caretakers and those coping with loss. The publishers provide search capabilities for each section of the site, and of course, there are a multitude of links to further information. The Learning Link of the Week is updated on Mondays, except on University holidays. To nominate a site for LLotW, send an e-mail to commu@umkc.edu (please put "learning link" in the subject header).
